Bajaj Chetak C2501
The Indian electric scooter market has just witnessed a significant move from Bajaj Auto. Expanding its iconic Chetak portfolio, Bajaj has officially launched the Chetak C2501 at a competitive price of Rs 91,399 (ex-showroom, Bengaluru). Positioned as the new entry point to the lineup, the C2501 aims to make electric mobility more accessible, approachable, and practical for daily urban commuters.
Unlike its premium siblings, the C2501 focuses on agility and ease of use, shedding weight and complexity to offer a streamlined riding experience without compromising on the classic Chetak charm.
The heart of the Bajaj Chetak C2501 is a floorboard-mounted 2.5kWh NMC (Nickel Manganese Cobalt) battery. This placement keeps the center of gravity low, ensuring better stability during city maneuvers. Bajaj claims a generous range of 113km on a single charge, which is more than sufficient for the average daily city commute.
For the first time in the Chetak family, Bajaj has utilized a hub-mounted motor. This motor produces a continuous power of 1.8kW and a peak output of 2.2kW. Designed for efficiency over high speed, the C2501 reaches a top speed of 55kmph, making it a perfect companion for navigating through heavy traffic.
| Feature | Specification |
| Battery Capacity | 2.5 kWh (NMC) |
| Claimed Range | 113 km |
| Top Speed | 55 kmph |
| Charging Time (0-100%) | 3 hours 45 minutes |
| Peak Power | 2.2 kW |
While the design remains unmistakably “Chetak,” the C2501 features a more svelte and slender profile. It stands out with a new round LED headlight and an upswept rear panel that houses a integrated single tail-lamp and indicators.
One of its biggest selling points is its weight. Tipping the scales at just 108kg (kerb weight), it is one of the lightest mainstream electric scooters available today. Combined with a low seat height of 763mm, it offers immense confidence to shorter riders and beginners. To ensure long-term durability, Bajaj has retained the sturdy metal body and provided an IP67 rating, making it resistant to dust and water.
Bajaj has made functional changes to the hardware to keep costs low and improve urban handling. The C2501 moves away from the traditional leading-link suspension, instead opting for a telescopic fork at the front and twin-shock absorbers at the rear.
This setup is expected to provide a more predictable and confident front-end feel, especially when braking or turning quickly on uneven city roads. Despite being an entry-level model, it does not skimp on safety, coming equipped with a front disc brake and a handy parking brake lock.
The Chetak C2501 is surprisingly well-equipped for its price bracket. Riders get a reverse LCD screen that supports Bluetooth connectivity for call alerts and music control. Key tech highlights include:
At Rs 91,399, the Chetak C2501 is priced significantly lower than the standard Chetak variants (which range between Rs 1.07 lakh to Rs 1.49 lakh). This aggressive pricing puts it in direct competition with other entry-level electric heavyweights:
Bajaj is offering a 3-year / 50,000km warranty on the C2501, providing peace of mind to new buyers transitioning from petrol to electric. With its combination of a trusted brand name, metal build, and agile handling, the C2501 is set to be a strong contender in the budget EV segment.
